Provence Photographic Workshop Tour July 2-6, 2017
Summer in Provence is a time when the region’s fields are bursting with colour and fragrance, when their perfumed lavender and dazzling sunflowers are in full bloom.
The iconic symbol of Provence, violet-coloured lavender and brilliant yellow sunflower fields are usually in flower from the end of June to mid August. The peak time being in early July when we will be there capturing its beauty!

Sunflowers in Provence
Both of these images were Focus stacked (also known as focal plane merging focus blending) a digital image processing technique which combines multiple images taken at different focal distances and give the blended image a greater depth of field (DOF) than any of the individual images.

Dragons Breath Nov 5 2016
In November I am looking fwd to taking a day to capture images of some of the Southwest most unusual formations. Photographers are today’s explorers looking for the unusual sights to capture with their cameras.

Dragons Breath
What lies at the edge of the known world? During medieval times, distant and unexplored lands on the edges of maps were marked by drawings of dragons, sea serpents, and other ominous looking fictional animals. The notation of dangerous beasts and mythical sea creatures invoked the harm that sailors feared to encounter when entering previously uncharted waters.

Val d’Orcia, Tuscany
This morning I spent some time with Deborah Bondar going over Lightroom’s workflow, processing this image she captured in the Val d’Orcia. Lightroom is a great program where you can take a raw image off your card and in less than 10 minutes you can turn it into a wall hanger.
From June 18 – June 23 2016 I will be teaching a workshop in the Val d’Orcia when the wheat field will be golden in the early morning and late afternoon light.
This is an amazing location where we can capture images and drink in the Tuscan lifestyle. We will be spending three night at an old Roman bath in the middle of the Val d’Orcia. Hope you can join me!
Tunnels in the Smoky Mountains
The winding roads in the Smoky Mountains create wonderful compositions as they run along rivers and through tunnels.

Ludington Beach View
This image was captured during the Lake Michigan workshop. To create this image I processed two images in the lightroom Develop Pallet and then used Lightroom’s Panoramic blend mode to create a single Panoramic image. After creating this Panoramic image I used Topaz Clarity to give it a little pop.
Our Lake Michigan shoreline reminds me of the beaches along North Carolina’s Outer Banks both have wonderful sand, dune grass, wild sea oats and lighthouses. Michigan like the Outer Banks has great lighthouses and more of them. Between North and South Carolina there are 16 lighthouses while Michigan has 127 remaining lighthouses.
Ludington Beach State Park – Lake Michigan
This is one of the two raw image processed in lightroom only before using Topaz Clarity to make it pop.
