This image was captured while hiking at Paynes Prairie Preserve one of Florida’s great State Parks. After a few minor adjustments in Photoshop’s CS5 I used the Tonal Contrast filter in Nik Software, Color Efex Pro™ 3.0. For me the Tonal Contrast filters is one of the best of the 52 filters offered in Color Efex Pro™ 3.0. Then I opened the image in Silver Efex Pro 2 designed to help create stunning Black and White images. I used the vignette tool in to help draw attention towards the center. The Black and White image opened in Photoshop as a layer. Using the luminosity setting in the blend modes in the Layers Pallet removes the Black and White affect and leaves the vignette affect. The vignette tool in Silver Efex Pro 2 is the best I have used. After setting the luminance mode you can change the opacity till you find the density you visually appealing. My recommendation is to make the vignette darker knowing you are going to change the opacity.
These three lazy guys look a little like the tire rubber I left along Interstate 10 in Northern Florida
Relaxing with friends in Gainesville Florida on the way to the Naples Downtown Art Fair gives me a couple of days to get in a little photographing and unexpected car repair. On the drive down from the Art Fair in Fairhope Alabama I had a blowout on one of my tires; fortunately it was on one of the rear wheels which are dually so I was able to limp to the exit and find a tire repair place and four hours later be on my way.
While in Gainesville I was able to get in a little shooting time and have the front end aligned and a couple of other tire replaced. After experiencing a blow out I decided to take a little preemptive action with tire safety.
